2019 marks the 5th centenary of Leonardo da Vinci's death, the birth of Catherine de Médicis and the laying of the foundation stone of the Château de Chambord. No less than 700 exceptional events are organised during the year to celebrate this anniversary throughout the Loire Valley, the cradle of the Renaissance in France. On the program, artistic creations, symposiums, heritage tours, sound and light shows and much more.

Festival 37° in the shade at the Cloître de la Psalette
The association La Simplesse offers you different concerts ranging from Renaissance to jazz, all the talents and all the genres are united there. A special place is given to young musicians from the Centre-Val de Loire region, who perform as the first part of each concert. This year, the festival pays tribute to the writer Honoré de Balzac but also to the 500 years of Renaissance in the Loire Valley « Viva Leonardo ».

Sound and light at the Museum of Fine Arts
The Museum of Fine Arts offers a show worthy of the « Illusions of the Cathedral ». The architecture of the former Archbishops' Palace and its park will serve as a « scope » for a composition of sounds and images that will take you to the heart of the Renaissance. Thanks to a dedicated module, the switching on and off of the lights will depend on the time of sunset.

The Renaissance of botany at the orangery greenhouse of the botanical garden
The Renaissance is a rich period for plants that emerge from monasteries and appear in gardens. This exhibition reveals all the botanical innovations related to this period.
