The Saint Gatien's Cathedral

Located only 900m from our Artist Hotel, the cathedral is one of the most important places in Tours.

An exceptional architecture :

Obligatory step during your stay in Tours : the Saint Gatien’s Cathedral. Known for its impressive collection of stained glass windows. In fact, it is one of the most complete and varied collections that we have left from the 13th century. To this great collection are added rosettes of the transept, the nave and the facade,

You will be impressed by the exuberante facade and its two towers. Carved in stone with great subtlety, the facade experienced some inconvenience during the revolution, with the loss of many of its statues.

A little History :

The cathedral was built between 1170 and 1547. It is a true open book of Gothic art. The cathedral was, at the time, one of the most famous pilgrimage centers of the West.

Take the most of your visit of the cathedral to discover also the cloister of the Psallette. And during the high season, do not miss the visual animations projected on the facade, which sublimate even more the cathedral. In front of the cathedral you will find a large esplanade to allow you all the time you need to admire it.

Inside the cathedral, you can also find the marble tombs of the two children of Charles VIII and Anne of Brittany.

Practical information :

The cathedral is open every day from 8:30 a.m to 8:00 p.m.
