Let's start with the discovery of the crafts at the Musée du Compagnonnage. This museum, the only one of its kind in the world, allows you to discover all the trades of the Compagnonnage, from ironwork to saddlery and pastry making.

In July and August, listen to the horses' hooves during a horse-drawn carriage ride through the cobbled streets.

Smell garlic and basil at the eponymous fair in July, and a glass of aromatic Sancerre, one of the many famous wines of the Loire Valley.

Taste the fresh fish served with white butter. The Loire Valley is famous for its wonderful variety of freshwater fish: trout, eels, sea bream and pike are on the menu, delicately cooked and smothered in a tasty butter sauce.

Touch the paddle of a canoe or kayak. Silently paddle along the Loire, Vienne, Erdre and Cher rivers, getting up close to the valley's wildlife (beavers and birds) and taking a break to explore the rivers' deserted islands.

In the heart of the Loire Valley, with the most famous castles nearby, Tours delights visitors with its medieval centre and cultural heritage, its large shopping areas and its riverside cafés and guinguettes.

It is recognised as a City of Art and History. Stroll along rue Colbert, rue Briçonnet and rue du Grand Marché where you will find sites steeped in history such as the Hôtel Goüin and the Fine Arts Museum.

Other must-see attractions include the magnificent St. Gatien's Cathedral and the basilica housing St. Martin's tomb, beautiful city parks and gardens such as the Botanical Garden, as well as covered markets and the flea market.
