Utopia / Dystopia exhibition
Located 5 minutes by car or directly by bus from our Best Western Plus L'Artist hotel, discover the amazing Utopia / Dystopia exhibition at the Médiathèque des Fontaines in Tours. From October 2 to December 29, 2018.
Dystopia is a very popular literary , whose content is often deeper than the form suggests. These fictions of anticipation depict an imaginary future and falsely utopian society, which restricts individual freedoms and prevents its members from achieving happiness.
When utopia turns into a nightmare
Freedom, progress, consumption, productivism, totalitarianism... these themes have been regularly addressed since the middle of the 19th century through literature, cinema, music, especially in works of anticipation. The authors warn us of the harmful consequences of a utopian ideology or practice. Above all, it is a critique of the current world, an invitation to consider and question our certainties and modes of action.
An exhibition that shakes up neurons
Produced by Globexpo, the exhibition Utopia / Dystopia revisits novels of anticipation and some essays, leads us to reflect on our current society, and makes it possible to see what the questions about the future were a hundred years ago and to consider if things have changed since then. Bernanos, Huxley, Orwell, Wells, Rufin, Verne... authors to discover or rediscover, from the perspective of dystopia.
